Internships

The Pearl is now interviewing applicants for the following internships
for our 2011-2012 season:


IMMEDIATE: Stage Management Intern (The Philanderer)
 Production Intern (Spring)
Costume Design Intern (The Philanderer)
Media Intern (Spring)
Arts Administrative Intern (Spring)

Pearl Interns are a valuable part of the continued success of the theatre and it is our intention to offer practical, well-rounded experience to current baccalaureate students and early career professionals.

Please note, we are unable to provide housing for any interns.

Production Internships
(Fall & Spring ONLY)
Submission Requirements: Cover Letter, Technical Resume & Contact Information for 2 References.

Production Stage Management Intern (Full-Time, $200/wk stipend)
Availability: One (1) intern per production; Fall and Spring ONLY
Work closely with Stage Manager(s), Production Manager, and other production personnel during the course of 1 show.  Involved in the entire production process from pre-production through close, duties may include rehearsal assistance (prompting, paperwork, set-up & tear-down, blocking notation), tech & crew oversight & execution, and performance-related responsibilities.  MUST HAVE STAGE MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE.

Costume/Wardrobe Intern (Full-Time, $200/wk stipend)
Availability: One (1) intern per term--2 productions; Fall and Spring ONLY
Work closely with the Costume Shop Manager, Costume Designer(s), Stage Manager(s), production personnel, and artists.  Responsibilities would include costume construction, wardrobe & wig prep & maintenance, and performance dressing & quick changes.  MUST HAVE SEWING SKILLS.

Board Operator (Full-Time, $200/wk stipend)
Availability: One (1) intern per term--2 productions; Fall and Spring ONLY
Work closely with the Production Manager, Stage Manager and technical team to operate and maintain the lighting and sound equipment for technical rehearsals and performances.  Responsibilities would include assisting lighting and sound designers as needed during tech and troubleshooting and fixing equipment issues during performances in addition to executing all necessary light and sound effects during a show.  MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE OPERATING LIGHTING AND SOUND BOARDS.

Production Intern (Part-Time, unpaid-credit available)
Availability: Two (2) interns per term--2 productions; Fall and Spring ONLY
Work closely with the Production Manager, Stage Manager(s), and other production personnel in assisting with production tasks and responsibilities.  Tasks would include production scheduling & coordination, facilities management, off-site builds, load-ins & tech maintenance, and production materials acquisition. MUST HAVE CORE KNOWLEDGE OF TECHNICAL THEATER.

Costume Design Intern (Part-Time, unpaid-credit available)
Availability: One (1) intern per production; Fall and Spring ONLY
Work closely with the Costume Designer(s), Costume Shop Manager, and Production Manager in theatrical costume design and construction.  Assist in the planning, construction and completion of designs, including shopping, sewing, pattern-making.  MUST HAVE SEWING SKILLS.

Administrative Internships
(Fall, Spring & Summer)
Submission Requirements: Cover Letter, Resume & Short (500 words of less) creative writing sample.

Marketing Intern (Part-Time, unpaid-credit available)
Availability: One (1) intern per term; Fall, Spring AND Summer
Work closely with Marketing Director, Audience Services Manager and Managing Director on projects related to non-profit arts marketing, grass-roots advertising, ticket sales, Front of House planning, Public Relations/Press, and audience cultivation initiatives for The Pearl.

Development Intern (Part-Time, unpaid-credit available)
Availability: One (1) intern per term; Fall, Spring AND Summr
Work closely with the Artistic Administrator, Development staff, and Managing Director on projects related to foundation & donor relations, grant proposals, special events & fundraisers, and contributed income programs for The Pearl.

Arts Administration Intern (Part-Time, unpaid-credit available)
Availability: One (1) intern per term; Fall, Spring AND Summer
Work closely with Artistic Administrator, Dramaturg and Artistic Director on projects related to casting, Arts in Education, artistic programming, literary management, production research and company management (when in production) for The Pearl.

Media Intern (Part-Time, unpaid-credit available)
Availability: One (1) intern per term; Fall, Spring AND Summer
Work closely with Marketing Director and Artistic Administrator on projects related to social networking, online video creation and editing, podcast recording, website media maintenance, and other e-marketing initiatives for The Pearl.
